Buddhism is the Doctrine, which had been preached by Lord Buddha before more than 2500 years ago. But it is the religion of the present. It will be the religion of the future. Buddhism is for the Universe. And it is a Philosophy.

But the pure Buddhism remains only in Sri Lanka with Sinhala Buddhist people. Therefore the responsibility of protecting this for the future is up to the Sinhala Buddhists. Myths people are trying to include in Buddhism, misunderstanding of people, people not practicing the teachings of Buddhism and the conversion attempts of the fundamentalist sects have become a threat for the protection of pure Buddhism.

Late Ven. Soma Thero was the person who opened the eyes of Sinhala Buddhist people more effectively about these things. As a result of that larger amount of people realized what Buddhism really is. His sudden passing away is a loss, which cannot be recovered easily.
